MaxPatrol system (Pentest module) of Positive Technologies was declared to be the most efficient network scanner

Experts of network security laboratory Informzaschita make the report “Security scanners comparative analysis. Part 1. Penetration testing”.
Previous studies of functional capabilities of security scanners and features of their use in network testing to define the resistance to crack was carried out in 2005-2006.
6 scanners - Internet Scanner, MaxPatrol, Nessus Security Scanner, NetClarity Auditor, Retina Network Security Scanner, Shadow Security Scanner - were tested I the research.
Security scanners were assessed by the following criteria: the number of detected vulnerabilities, the number of False Positives, The number of False Negatives, reasons of False Negatives, the completeness of checks database, the quality of inventory and software version detection mechanisms, results accuracy.
These criteria collectively characterize the «applicability» of scanner to achieve the objectives, including routine activities automation in network security control.
